The Problem of Back Pain

Back pain is a very common complaint, which most of the people have a complaint about. Back pain is caused when there is excessive strain or tension to the muscles of the back and it is caused even if any ligament of the back is stretched. Many different types of diseases are caused such as sciatica, arthritis, bulging disk, ruptured disk, osteoporosis, back pain.
Lower back pain is mainly caused due to improper body posture, strain or sprain of the muscles of the back, injury, and even infection. Major risk factors related to back pain are stressful job, smoking, depression, anxiety, sedentary work, and strenuous work activities.
Back pain can occur in different parts of the spinal cord. It can be lower back pain which involves the hip portion due to which hip pain also occurs. In severe circumstances if not treated adequately, it may lead to hip replacement surgery. Therefore, proper attention and care should be taken to eradicate this pain.
Upper back pain involves the neck region and the thoracic region. It can lead to stiffening of the neck and other surrounding joints. Even shoulders are also involved in this type of pain.
Back pain can be diagnosed by different methods. X-rays are the most commonly used technique to detect any form of deformity in the spinal cord. MRI scan i.e. magnetic resonance imaging, bone scan, EMG, and nerve conduction studies are some of the other techniques used.
Proper treatment may help reduce the pain of the low back. Chiropractic treatment, massage, icing, applying hot packs, physical therapy, injections, muscle relaxants as prescribed the physicians, and in some cases even surgery is needed to get rid of the back pain. Proper attention should be given in time to alleviate the pain.
Back pain comes without warning and one should be prepared for the consequences if not cured at proper time and in proper way.
